Call For Comments: The End of The Greatest Show on Television

From Mav: In a way, the CW’s Riverdale is sort of ingrained in the DNA of this podcast. We talked about it at length on the sixth episode and it has been a constant refrain that I have returned to ever since. I say “I”… not we… because the truth is, everyone else has bailed on it. Not just everyone on our show, but judging by the ratings (200-250K for a show that used to do 2.5-3M), pretty much everyone in the world! In fact, I honestly am not sure that I know any one else other than myself who has stuck with it and watched every episode. Everyone else pretty much agrees that the show jumped the shark a long time ago.

I disagree! Riverdale STARTED way on the other side of the shark and then just moved on from there!

Well, next Wednesday, after seven season of straight up batshit insanity, Riverdale is finally, graciously, and mercifully coming to an end. As such, I feel like it would be only appropriate to sort of revisit it one last time.

The problem is, how do we do that when no one actually watches the show anymore? Well, I was thinking about it and I decided, maybe that’s part of the fun of it. So what I’m suggesting is that people watch the series finale of Riverdale and THEN we talk about it. The fact that you probably won’t have any idea what’s going on shouldn’t matter. In fact, it might make it more fun… because let’s be honest, it didn’t make much sense anyway.

So who’s with me? Who’s willing to watch the series finale of a show you’ve not been watching in years (or possibly ever)? Let me know in the comments. And also, let me know if you’ve ever watched the show before and when you gave up on it. And then we’ll try to pick some guests to do our final Riverdale recap with us. Even if you aren’t watching it, I’d love to hear comments here just so we can discuss the absolute insanity that the show became.

  1. Oh man. I watched season 1 and 2 with my best friend. We got 2 or 3 episodes into season 3 and couldn’t do it anymore. I’d LOVE to watch the season finale. Maybe she and I can do a viewing party together.
