e354. Diamonds Aren’t Forever: The Rise and Fall of Comics Distribution

It’s a dark day here at VoxPopcast and … well, for some of us, all across America. If you’re listening to this episode on the day that it drops then it is inauguration day for the United States presidency. And this means, after four years Donald Trump is going to return to power. If you have listened to the show you can probably guess we aren’t too happy about it. But we didn’t want to do a Trump episode because… well, we’re going to be talking about him plenty over the next four years. So instead, we’ve decided to embrace the last days of … not Trumpness… and discuss something else.

So on this week’s episode, we’re going to discuss the impending bankruptcy of Diamond Comic Distribution, who suddenly declared bankruptcy last week. In order to do that, we’re going to take a fascinating trip through the history of comic distribution in North America. How did we get to this point and what happens now. It’s an interesting story, so join us as we work our way through it and talk about where the future of comics might go. Listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
