So if you live on planet Earth, even if you’re not an American, you likely know that Donald Trump returned to the US presidency last week. And along with him, there was also this weird thing where TikTok was blocked in America but then returned 12 hours later with a strange message thanking Trump, even though technically he wasn’t president yet. At the same time Meta, owners of Facebook and Instagram, announced a slew of changes to their fact checking and operations moving forward which seem tailor-made to suck up tot he incoming president. You’re certainly also aware of the garbage fire that the social media site formerly know as Twitter has become. And there’s some amount of people attempting to leave all the other sites for this new upstart, Bluesky. And there’s just… a lot. Social Media is a lot now! And it appears to be just on fire everywhere and undependable and no one really knows what to do. So on this week’s episode, Hannah, Katya and Mav discuss the current state of social media and why it’s culturally weird and whether or not it can evolve or survive. Listen to our thoughts and then let us know yours in the comments!
