e436. Robotic Dreams and Digital Nightmares: Is A.I the Monster… or the Mirror?

Obviously, Artificial Intelligence has been a big topic in the news of late. But in the world of pop culture, it really isn’t anything new. A.I. has been a huge theme in literature in one way or another for essentially the last century if not longer. As long as we have dreamed of creating life, we have feared that that life might inevitably destroy us. Since Artificial Intelligence is one of our most enduring monsters, it only makes sense that we invite back our resident monster expert. And so, on this week’s episode, Wayne, Hannah and Mav are joined by returning guest, Michael Chemers of the Center for Monster Studies. Join us as we speak about the history of fictional robots and AIs, the psychological anxieties they represent, and the cultural mora they reflect. Then give us your thoughts in the comments below.
