It’s Spooky Season! Halloween is right around the corner. And so we decided we wanted to celebrate by looking at one of the the most enduring tropes of popular culture. The Witch! But unlike many of the spooky Halloween standards, like vampires, ghosts, or goblins, witches have the distinction that they’re undoubtedly real. People have been accused of witchcraft, been tried and lost their lives. And on the other hand we have a long history of people, especially women, embracing the study of witchcraft — or perhaps we should say witchcrafts, as there are more than one. And of course all of this has been immortalized in years of pop culture properties. So on this week’s episode, the whole VoxPopcast crew —Mav, Hannah, Wayne, Maybe, and Katya — unite to discus the concept of the witch in pop culture. Listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
