Recently, Maggie Gyllenhaal took a swing at a reboot of the horror classic The Bride of Frankenstein and released The Bride. Unfortunately, not many people saw it. But it begs the question, Frankenstein is one of the history’s most important books. Mary Shelly, created the sci-fi genre with the novel, and yet most of the characters in the novel are male. Furthermore, if you watch the original The Bride of Frankenstein you’ll notice that, she’s barely in it. So is there truly a feminist criticism to be had amongst the story? So on today’s episode Mav, Hannah, and Maybe are joined by friend of the show Michael Chemers to talk about the legacy of the bride of Frankenstein in all of her incarnations and to discuss what it means to be the mate of a monster. Listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
