Entertainment Weekly recently published an article by Derek Lawrence that made the somewhat shocking claim that “movies are more likely to star an actor named Chris than women over 60.” Well, that seemed like exactly the kind of thing we should investigate on this shows. So we looked into it a little deeper and. Well, yeah, that’s obviously not really true. And in fact, it’s not even what the study the article is citing actually says. So boo, to click bait! However, we did think that conceptually what he study was doing (and what EW was going for) shows some promise, or is at least worth talking about. So on this week’s episode Maybe (who found the article) is joined by Hannah and Mav to talk about whether or not there really are fewer roles for older women, whether it’s getting better or worse, and why we think studies like this matter. There’s a lot of fun stuff, so listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
