e89. Star Wars: Epic Retrospective

If you’ve been anywhere on the Internet in the last few days… honestly, if you live anywhere on the planet Earth, then you probably know that after forty-two years in the making, Star Wars is finally complete. Certainly if you’re the kind of person who listens to our show you know that. Of course, you probably also know that it isn’t really complete. You almost certainly assume there will be more. But still, this is the end of an era of sorts. With the release of Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, We now have the completion of the Skywalker Saga, an epic nine part ennealogy… that somehow has twelve parts (arguably more). Well, we’re all geeks so of course we went out and saw it. Mav, Hannah and Katya are joined by Josh Stroud and Stephanie Siler to break down the film, talk about what worked and didn’t work narratively, and discuss the cultural significance and literary structure of the saga as a whole and how this film fits or doesn’t fit within it. Join us and let us know what you do and don’t agree with.
